How big should my breast implants be?
The size of implants appropriate for you depends on individual factors, including your preferences and the size of your frame in general. Ideally, this decision should be made in consultation with your plastic surgeon, who can provide you with detailed information and guidelines for selecting a size. During your breast implant sizing and shaping session, you will have the opportunity to "try on" various shapes and sizes of breast implants before making your final decision.
Can I breast feed after breast augmentation surgery?
While breast augmentation should not interfere in any way with milk production, some procedures rarely cause a decrease in sensation that could interfere with breastfeeding in the future. Some people believe that periareolar incisions increase this risk.
Will I be able to have mammograms after a breast augmentation?
Some breast implants have been known to make it more difficult to read a mammogram, introducing potential for error. This risk is increased somewhat with subglandular implants.
You should still obtain routine mammograms after breast enlargement, but it is important that you inform the technician performing your mammogram about your implants, so potential problems can be avoided.
How long will it take me to recover after breast enlargement?
Because of the wide variety of procedures available, the answer to this question will vary quite a bit. As a general rule, though, most patients are able to return to work within about a week, and can resume most or all of their normal activities within a month.
